My name is Phurbu Dolma, and I graduated from the University of Oregon in March 2026 with a Master of Science in Psychology through the Online Master of Psychology Program. I dedicate this website to my capstone research project, which explores the effects of Major Depression on BIPOC adolescents and emphasizes the need for culturally appropriate interventions.
Mission Statement:
This website seeks to inform licensed professional counselors, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers in recognizing cultural barriers and structural experiences of BIPOC adolescents with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). This website will discuss the clinical diagnosis of MDD, explore how cultural beliefs, family dynamics, and racial discrimination contribute to depressive symptoms, explore the theoretical framework, and focus on recommendations to increase equitable access and culturally sensitive interventions to improve well-being.
